I've read many, many threads about pistons, but I can't figure out if the pin height is being measured from the top of the piston down, or from the bottom up?? Top down makes sense to me, but it would be nice to get a definite answer on this to make sure my build is as correct as possible.

Measure the pin OD and record the dimension, measure from the top of the pin hole to the top of the piston, record the dimension, divide the pin dimension by 2 to find the center line, add that to the distance from the top of the pin hole to the piston top. There is clearance for the pin/piston fit and the pin hole is not made centered in the piston so depending on your piston there will be .002-.004" adjustment correction to put it on the money, but just the two steps will put you very close. This is also called the compression height.
