Oil & Religion

Post by Frankenstien »

So I don't normally speak about motor oil religion or politics less you want to elevate a discussion but I gotta say I hear another topic here that has a wide spectrum
of opinions. I don't proclaim to be the Messiah or the inventor of oils but I can tell ya what works for me for over 30 years. Plastic-gauge the bearings and take measurements. 10 thou I would run 5-20w synthetic always synthetic. (Long story, dune buggy with broken oil line for about 5 miles of trails didn't know broken was running synthetic. crimped line filled back up and ran on forever I fell in love with the synthetics. Short version.)
20 thou I'd run 10-30 synthetic. See the oil at 10 on a twenty thou was fast lubrication on cold starts and once warmed up the 30 took up the space and gave
protection.
I have seen guys run the Valvoline 20-50 racing in a 10 thou engine and smoke it. Advertising is just that not reality and one must know so when you pour the 15-40 Rotella or whatever I hear on here I ask why and Did you check you stuff before assembly or does it sound "sound like the right thing to do?"
Oh, don't forget to check your oil pumps clearance too! It's the heart right? Did you check it on the stand?

See this artificial.
