hi all, building a budget 4.5 stroker. got myself a 68-231-4 cam. looked a lot thru the forum and keep coming up with the mopar springs. the only place i can find these springs are on jegs at $23 a spring(quit pricey) now i was in the middle of building a 302 which i have a brand new set of comp cams 942-16 for. the spring rate is 339lbs(a little higher then the mopars at 270lb) seat load is 115 at 1.700 so thats damn close to the mopar 120 at 1.60. spring o.d. is 1.437 vs mopar 1.42". i already have the valves and am going to see how they fit the head tomorrow being 0.017 wider. coil bind at 1.125 .just looking for someone to tell me if i should even attempt trying them. just dont know jack about springs. spring rate too high?

The jeeps installs at 1.60",
110 pounds at 1.70" with 339lb springs is 144 pounds at 1.60" installed height.

I don't think that is what you want.

damn just figured the math out for those springs at closed load. didnt thing 0.100 would raise the load 34lb at 1.7. but at 339lb x .100 = 33.9 so ya. like i said dont know jack about springs but i knew the 339 was alot less then the 926 at 415lb which i know would fit anyway.
