hate to do this,

been creeping on here for over a year, been collecting parts slowly. time to get some pro opinions.

starting with a 93 LO block as it was cheep, decked to 0.005 - 0.0000 and bored 0.030 over
4.2 crank from 89. 4 weight
4.0l rods will have peened and mag fluxed
7120 cast head. want to port and polish it and look into raising the bottom of the exhaust port to decrease turbulence increase flow
99+ intake with 91-93 fuel rail (hesco adjustable regulator still need)
27lb/hr 99+ injectors and (adapter plugs ev1-ev6 still need)
pacesetter 70-1129 longtube headers
probably an over bored to 63.5mm stock throttle body at first.. get a 68mm intake later
need to purchase
IC944 pistons with a 21cc dish
high flow oil pump
high flow water pump.
new cam gears and chain

from what I understand of my little knowledge of cams is that the stock large 46* overlap cam is possibly the best N/A lo compression cam available and the only real upgrades worth doing are adjustable rockers with a larger ratio and springs if need be to match.. am I right on this? seams every other guy out there has problems with his valve train when upgrading it I was eyeing up the comp cams 232 I think it was maybe the 231.. and neither are really that much better, without that overlap the supercharging effects of this intake and exhaust combo will suffer. they are just dual pattern and higher lift, which can be attained by increasing the ratio slightly on the stock one.. I know I will be sacrificing power by having such large dished pistons and stock cam lowering the DRC but I want this motor to be a better than stock replacement that is more fuel efficient and over all happier on the trail/ street.

my goals are to get the most efficiency out of my build, from life span, horse power to fuel mileage I want this to be a balanced build

Take a look at the 4.6L low buck stroker recipe on my site and see what you think. IMO I think that's the best balanced build in terms of cost and performance. Gas mileage will largely depend on your driving style and there are many factors that can affect the engine's lifespan.

this is definitely the way I'm going, it feels nice to have a clear path.
the only question I have is the cam is designated not for fuel injection from comp cams, does any body have experience with this build combination that could chime in on how well it idles and performs?

I expect the deck being left high is for the offset grind?

I also expect my ford 27lb/hr ev6 injectors injectors will work handily as well?

guess I need to order gaskets a cam pistons and a throttle body!

Don't take any notice of Compcams saying their cams don't work with EFI. They do and it's been proven many times so have no worries. As for the build combo, it should kick some ass.

I am running that cam in a 2000 WJ with a fresh 4.6L It has just around 100 miles on it now. The computer is fine with the 235 grind. What valve springs are you planning to use?
I am guessing that once I have mine all tuned it will run even better. But it runs good with the stock tune as well. Dont expect great MPG though.

haven't decided yet, will consult with the machine shop about this, I inquired about milling the spring pockets for bigger springs and they highly recommend getting springs that fit without milling and the right load. seams like sound advice. do you have any advice?

I used the last set of Mopar performance springs in the world I think. It took me 3 months to find all 12 from 3 different people. If you can find them they are your best bet iMO.

cant get those springs from mopar any more. retainers and keepers are a non issue. its just those stinking springs...

any one got a facsimile on hand or is this going to turn into a wild goose chase, turning over hours of specs and learning something new that I was trying not to?

oh boy it sounds like so much fun :brickwall:

Those Crane 96806 springs install at 1.750", 204lb/in.
104pounds at 1.750", 193pounds at 1.300"(0.450"lift), 206 pounds at 1.250"(0.500"lift), 229pounds at 1.150"(0.600"lift).

Yeah. Been there. Finally found a great spring from Crower...... that was discontinued years ago. :brickwall: :brickwall:
I gave up and just chose a cam that would work with the stock springs.

GM LS springs and Ford 4.6 springs are options that will require some machining to work.
