Edelbrock 4.0L head soon to be available.

Post by Eaglefreek »

I didn't see this mentioned anywhere else. On another forum, a guy works for Edelbrock and they finally developed an aluminum. It is supposed to be released at SEMA this year. They are currently looking for a test vehicle so they can get CARB certification. No other details as far as performance or cost has been discussed, though. http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/misc/test-vehicles/

They're looking for a stock Jeep 4.0L with under 50k miles. Given that the youngest 4.0L engine is more than 8 years old, finding one with such a low mileage is going to be a challange.

I actually heard about it a year and a half ago, but there was no release date and I didn't see any mention when I used the search function. Thanks for insight.

I was trading emails with Troy Hooker, the sales guy at Edelbrock, and he expects the head to be released by 1 January 2015. Of course, that is presuming they locate a test vehicle. I don't think it will be that hard. There are quite a few low mile TJs and LJs out there. If they want to sell units, they will find a test mule.

I also am intrigued. This could be a game changer, depending on price.

Suspect the first edition will be close to stock (hence CARB approval) with subsequent heads being more performance oriented.

Also talk of an intake manifold to supplement the new head is a consideration Edlebrock is studying.

I've been checking SEMA website, and didn't see anything (started today thru Friday). Where did you find this?
