I have a block from a 99-01 xj block casting number is 53010449AA. Im a little uncertain if that block will swap into my 97 TJ I know I will have to swap over the oil filter head

Zach, the component configuration on the front of the engine might be the only issue ? location of a/c compressor and alternator. Engine mount brackets are probably different between the XJ and TJ may have to swap over to TJ style. What about oil pan ? is the sump in the same location as a TJ ?

The oil pan looks the exact same as my tj. I got the block for free when my buddy went to a stroker in his XJ

That's the same block I've got for my '97TJ, the only thing I'm concerned with is the motor mounts??, all of the accessory's on the front bolt right up, I took them off my Jeep and turned around and bolted them onto the long block!

Well that's a good sight to see everything will be in same spot up front. The motor mounts I think will be fine cause that block was used in a 99 tj also from what I seen on here

The engine mounts won't be an issue. The oil filter adapter may be needed, but that isn't a major set back. The accessory mounts are the same aside from a tapped hole on the front of the head.
