New to the Forum!

Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I have owned a 93 XJ Sport for 5 years now. It currently has a .060 over 4.0 with a Comp 232-4 cam, stainless SBC 1.5/1.94 valves with Crane springs in a ported 7120 head, 99+ intake swap, and a garage fabbed adjustable rocker arm setup that is still going strong after 50k (fingers crossed!) I'm currently in the process of gathering parts for a short rod stroker build. I just wanted to introduce myself and say that I'm looking forward to using this forum with y'all.

Welcome to the board, how do you like the 232-4 cam, how would you describe the power band of that motor related to rpm? That grind has interested me for a while. Home made rockers, not too many go that far, any details that you can share?

The 232-4 cam has been a good runner. It seems to come alive above 2000rpm and has excellent throttle response. I'm going to use it in my stroker build for a baseline cam test and try others from there on. I have been eyeing the 231-4 cam though. It seems to come up with the best numbers hp and tq wise across the board on my dyno software. As for the adjustable rocker setup I had the rocker arm bosses on the head milled .300" then screwed in Comp 5/16-3/8 studs and Comp Olds guideplates. I then found that I could use rocker arms from the ford 240/300 I6 engine and the gm 250ci inline6. The stock 250 rockers are 1.7 ratio while the Ford's are 1.6. I tried both styles of rocker arms sucessfully. Then I began figuring how to adapt the stock rockers and pivots to the stud setup. After a little grinding and drilling, I got them to fit and they operated properly. I've been running the adapted stock rockers/pivots for the last three years with no issues. It's nice to set the lifter preload individually and not worry about shims or guessing. The only thing I need to get the geometry right is the right length pushrods. I'll try to post some pics of the setup If I get time.

Thanks for the good info, on the camshaft and the custom adjustable rockers. again, few have worked those up, but I guess that is because it wasn't on anyone's formula for the perfect motor. LOL, I have worked with the 231-4 cams for a while, I like it for torque monster builds, Nice across the band, starts off with lots of power by 1100 rpm, throttle response is not its strongest suit. I find it behaves like the bigger brother of the OEM newer jeep camshaft.Depends on what you want the motor to do.
