Thank You!

Post by xjjeepcjs »

Just wanted to say thank you to the people like FlyingRyan, SilverXJ, Cheromaniac and others who chimed in on issues I had with my build.

My 2001 XJ is officially running good and not throwing codes since sync. Did the 100 mile oil change and made sure to add zddp to the oil. Now I have to move to the next steps of tuning and other little improvements. I am using a bit more gas than I expected, but hoping that it gets better as miles build up on the motor.

I have a second motor that I will do a build by piecing it together myself instead of buying kits. Will sell that motor to a Jeep club member who is extremely interested in having one built. The kits were great for me to learn and satisfied my need to expedite my build.

Couldn't have done this build without this forum and the expertise of it's members.

Take care,

Cory

1,500 miles and no sign of any issues!! I have some higher underhood temps, but nothing to be worried about. Cam seems like I broke it in well. Using a Zinc additive. Checked pan and drained oil for metal... nothing. I think I am good so far.

Wanted to find out how you all cut open a oil filter without adding metal shavings?

I really want to see if I am missing something. On my oil checks I use neodymium rare earth magnets to check for metal and the magnets come out clean. I even have a HD magnet riding on the oil pan bolt to help collect data :)
