so has anyone messed around with there speed limiter? my gear ratios are too high and I have smaller tires so the pcm shuts me down at like 90mph now cuz the speedo says about 120 (not sure but the needle touches the odometer). im thinking I can just get a bigger speedo gear to trick it into thinking its slower so I can get above 120 or even unplug the speed sensor, I haven't tried it yet but I will when I get a little time.

Do you have the correct speedo gear in now to make the speedo correct and accurate with your current gears and tires? If not, you seem to be off about 30% and need about a 30% ?bigger speedo gear. ECU tuning can raise the speed limiter.

Why not just change the speedo gear?

What RPM does your TACH say when it shuts down?

I ordered a bigger speedo gear, and ryan that's good to know I will need you soon anyway with the s/c. right now it is topped at about 4700 rpm in 4th gear. just seeing if anyone has tried it already

I'm on OBD1 so I have to improvise. For my dyno runs i just reach underneath and unplug the speed sensor at the tail shaft. This is only a temporary fix as it disables the speedo and the affects how the IAC-motor responds. Did allow me to turn 4th gear to redline for nice straight math(1.00:1). This however spun my 31's to 147mph at 5200rpm.

Just be careful. *Do this completely at your own risk!*
