Start by looking at the FAQ`s and doing a little searching on your own.

If this is your first stroker related question you have a lot to learn before even getting started.

But I`ll play nice, you do not want the rods, just the crank.

Why wouldn't he want the rods? The crank is from a 4.2 engine and he's building a large stroker, not making a 4.0 into a 4.2. The deck height of the 4.0 block is too short to accommodate the greater 3.9" stroke with the 4.0 rods. I'll be using Speed Pro hyper pistons and to do that I'm stuck pulling the rods from my 4.2 with the intention of using them in the 4.0. What pistons do you plan on using?

ive done a lot of studying, just wanted some hands on advice

i know all i neeed is the 4.2 rods and crankshaft to turn a 4.0 into a poor mans 4.5 :smack: im not rich enough to get the superduperpistons with a higher wrist pin hight or whats it called, besides the engine will work just fine with 4.2 rods and regular 4.0 pistons

there is a guy(Bo Werner) semi close around here that uses 4.2 crank and 4.2 rods on his twinturbo wrangler with 500+hp so the need for using other rods is just :bs:

just hoped there could be something else usuful i might take from the 4.2 block :hrhr:

I am not trying to get into who has a bigger dick debate. I am trying to help you with a question you posted.

While your buddy may have built a 500 hp turbo stroker with 4.2 rods. I strongly suspect there is a lot more to the story then him simply using a short 4.2 rod and turning the key to make it run, especially with FA. Knowledge that he has not shared with you.

SLOWLY folks are starting to understand basic engine concepts and are STARTING to understand the importance of certain somewhat significant factors. IF you had been reading and following this board as little as a week or so ago you would have seen some of this info. bubbling up. Although the information has been out there for years folks have not paid much attention to it and are now finding that the tradeoff`s are a bit less then desired.

But since your buddy did it I guess that makes anything that others and myself might want to offer of little value.

Like I said, good luck.

what i was asking is if there is anything else i might use than the rods and crank from a 4.2 and i never got it answered, im not building a monster horspower twinturbo superduperdragster, im building a poor mans stroker daily driver......

if something makes the engline last 10more minutes on the strip i dont care even the slightest or making 1 hp more, many have built a stroker with 4.2 rods and crank and gotten lots of mileage out of it, the camshaft/lifters seems to be the problem with modern low zinc oils.....

and still nobody answered me if anyting else is useful from the 4.2......

im giving up on this thread now and will not asnwer it anymore
