How many miles are on it?
Do you beat the piss out of it or are you nice?
What cam do you have, where is the torque at, and are you happy with it?
were you inspired by dino?
And last but not least what is your compression, quench, and octane of fuel?

just a few questions for future stroker dreamers :rockout:

I had three stroker motors from three complete rebuilds, new bearings, machine work, two different blocks/heads during a two-year period... sum total of 15,000 miles between them and nothing but a giant hole in my wallet and my lost blood sweat and tears

Ripped it out and dropped in a junkyard v8 with 174,000 miles already on it, and it's still going strong as a daily driver without so much as a hiccup

sly-jeeper wrote:How many miles are on it? 74,200 miles on mine over the course of 9-1/2 years and still goes like a raped ape. Done 248,600 miles on the Jeep.

Do you beat the piss out of it or are you nice? Something in between but occasionally at both extremes
What cam do you have, where is the torque at, and are you happy with it? Stock '92 cam, 90+% of maximum torque from 1550-4550rpm, very happy with it
were you inspired by dino? Mmmm. Need to think about that one ;)
And last but not least what is your compression, quench, and octane of fuel? SCR 9.25:1, quench 0.088", 91 octane

Like Doublins I have through many rebuilds with cam bearing failures. Since figuring out the problem and going with a custom can for the thrust plate I have about 15,000 since the last failure. However, I also have two Jeeps and since I rotate them out and use the ZJ for long drives and use it for snow the mileage isn't as high as it should be. Its not that the XJ is bad in snow, but between the salt and stones they throw down it really eats up the body and paint.

i had both zj and xj both lifted 5 inches with 33's on homemade short arms lol and i found that the zj drove much better in the wet heavy snow and slush we get here from the salt...what was causing your cam bearing issues?

I've got 12,000 miles on mine. Crower 280/280 .448 and 112 degree Seperation angle and the camsaver lifters that are Johnson's with the small uniform flatspot down one side.on stock h.o. valvesprings, I have new mopars and a new head.I've pulled several over weight trailer when I had to and the power is great. Right between 1800-4500 but really grabs around 3000 I think due to the stockish cam and stock h.o. throttlebody. Compression is around 9.5/1 with .054 quench ported and polished stainless header .
