What exhaust headers do you like and have tried? I cracked a stock two piece in a few places. A brand new OEM replacement is easily the cost of an aftermarket header so I rather just shove something better in there.

The AFE design looks amazing, but the price is way up there.

The Rudge Ridge and similar such as Drake are cheap, but appear to all be the same cheap copy of the Banks product.

Borla looks good as well along with a high price. I like the idea of the pipes put together with reinforcement around them.

Pacesetter and OBX also offer one. Thorley may as well, but I don't recall. The JBA one does look nice, but I don't think any of they are equal length.

You might also want to look into the outlet size as, IIRC, some have different sizes.

Yeah, getting equal length jammed up in there, but at least most aftermarket is reasonably better than the that front manifold that is essentially three outlets shoved into a log. Most of the aftermarket ones appear to use fractional lengths so they otherwise match up.

That and larger primaries. The JBA does look the best but I would get in contact with each company about the collector size. Internet result vary for each one.

I used Borla on my 89 and my 90. They fit well around the automatic trans, even though they only suggest it for the standard trans. I did put insulation between the exhaust pipe and the trans dipstick tube and cooler lines.

I chose Borla because they're guaranteed for 500,000 miles. I had already welded the original manifold, and when that broke again I bought a new original-style manifold. That broke on the first trip pulling the travel trailer. Driving at freeway speeds up the long, steep grades in the Rockies, the engine has to work very hard and puts out a lot of heat, half of which goes out the exhaust pipe. The Borlas haven't had any serious problems. I did have to use band-type clamps, with u-clamps before and behind the bands, held together with a steel strap to keep the joints from sliding in and out and getting loose.
