I've had this problem with both stock and stroker engines in Cherokees: After driving a while and then parking awhile, the engine won't start, and when it finally does start it runs very rough for a while - maybe 10 - 15 minutes. In the past, I've gotten it started by adding cooler gas. I insulated the gas tank with a construction insulation that looks like Mylar bubble-wrap. Last month I googled "how raise boiling point of gasoline?" The most sensible suggestion was to add some Diesel, so today when I had the problem again, I had about 15 gallons in the tank so I added a gallon of Diesel. I had several more stops to make, and was able to start easily each time. The (stroker) engine ran well each time. I'm going to carry a gallon of Diesel all the time now. I think used engine oil would work as well. I run about 12-15% used engine oil in my Diesel Volvo and it works fine there. I think the oil is also good for the pump and other moving parts in the fuel system.
Hope this helps somebody...
