:stick: Getting ready to swap my motors really soon
I already own some inverted torx bits (E12) included hopefully I won't be pulling my motor in and out frequently but I've considered buying some hex head bolts to swap in place of the pain in the butt two top bellhousing bolts, has anyone already done this, and do you recall the size/length/thread,ECT??
One more thing, does anyone think swapping the longblock &tranny as a whole is easier than just mating them with the tranny (AW4) still bolted in the jeep?

The three top bolts are 3/8-16 and the two bottom ones are 7/16-14, I just screwed two HANSEN taps into the holes by hand with NO effort into my '00 block.

Thanks for the replies , It's been awhile but aren't there only 2 e-12 one on each side of the bellhousing ? Im changing them regardless cause I think that's the dumbest design and I'd rather use a wrench than four feet of extensions and a wobble socket to get that crap separated!
I think I will pull the engine and tranny together this time to clean everything up real good! I know together they're long ass shiot ;)

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I thought I'd post the lengths since I have them handy in case anyone else is wondering. On my 1999 4.0L with manual trans:

(2) at 1 o'clock and 11 o'clock, 3/8"-16 thread, 1-3/4" length
(2) at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, 7/16"-14 thread, 3" length
