heater hoses

I don't like molded heater hoses. They cost more and may be harder to find but don't last longer than generic hose. I also don't like the steel hose fittings Jeep uses in the heater circuit. It rusts through and fails, and is also expensive to replace. When I installed my stroker I replaced the molded hoses with 1/2" Copper pipe and elbows, soldered together. I also replaced the crankcase breather hose with the same materials, but joined this plumbing with Loctite. It also looks a little neater in the engine compartment. I connected the plumbing to the engine, etc. with Silicone hose. It costs about $10/foot, but it doesn't take much the way I used it. I used it a lot in my career as a heavy equipment mechanic, and it never needs replacing except in cases of mechanical damage.
