Same hear. I had to massage the pan a bit.

Ok so we got the engine back from the shop just the other day. He told me it took 2 sets of washers for it to clear the girdle. I've since removed the header panel and covered the engine up. Now that shes ready to go in whats gonna be the easiest way to line everything up? When my uncle was in helping me for about a week he said I should attach the engine and transmission together first then lower it in to the engine bay so I guess i'll try it that way since it sounds easier than trying to jack up the transmission?

I personally like to have the transmission already installed and supported by a jack stand prior to installing the engine. If the transmission is already out it might be easier to bolt it to the engine then drop it in.

Well recently i havent had a lot of time to try and get her in and running because the weather doesn't seem to agree with me everytime i try and get it going. Not having all the bellhousing bolts isn't helping either. I know I put them somewhere.... I may just end up having to buy replacements so I can try and get this project moving again.

Where did you find those Keith Black pistons .020 over for only $360?

i noticed you said solid lifters in your parts list...are you actually running solid lifters?

I knew someone would notice that if I didn't go back and change it. No for some reason I had thought I needed solid lifters but the guy at the shop corrected me and got the hydraulic lifters instead. I actually found the keith black pistons on Ebay after searching for a while. The main thing keeping me from dropping this thing in is this cold weather. And the fact I don't have a garage. Expect more updates when the temperature finally goes back up.

I feel your pain. I have a 4.6 stroker and new nv4500 waiting to go into my jeep it's just too damn cold outside to work in the driveway.

Yeah my Jeep would have been 10 times better than driving my dad's little 2WD saturn in this snow. But my buddy knows the people at a local shop that could help put it in for me so hopefully we'll figure something out soon.

Well after what 4 or 5 months of complaining about the cold weather and not really getting any work done we finally brought the engine and transmission inside and connected together to get everything ready to drop in the engine bay.

After a lot of wrestling and moving the engine around we finally got the engine and trans in and on their mounts so I guess tomorrow we'll start hooking everything up and back together.

Warmer streak going on i take it.

My machine shop guy told me that a high flow oil pump is a bad idea unless you run a bigger oil pan. He said that all of your oil can end up in your head leaving you oil pan empty, causing your pickup to lose suction. has anyone found this to be true?

Another update on the build. We've just about wrapped up everything needing to be bolted/plugged in under the hood all thats left to do is make sure our electric fans work and hook up the battery.


Anyone happen to know where this goes?
