Golen 4.6 in a CJ7

New to the forum, hope this is in the right place.

I have finally gotten the saved enough money to put a motor in my 1979 CJ7 Golden Eagle. I'm leaning strongly towards the 4.6l Golen motor. Since the motor is really for a '91-'95 YJ I'll be looking at new exhaust but was hoping someone could tell me what other things won't just bolt on and work.

Other details:
I'm gonna put the 258 intake on the stroker initially, until I have time and money for EFI.
I am a college student and my budget for the swap is pretty firm at $5,000 stretchable to no more than $5,300

Also what would be a project people would like to see with the extra 258 and 4.0 head that will wind up in my garage...it'll probably end up in my 1982 Scrambler..

I used a 93 GC block for my stroker and it didn't have a place for the fuel pump. I had to go with an electric pump.

Simple enough, I'll add it to the list. Thanks caveman

Hey Seth, did you get the Golen stroker? Did it work out for you? I am considering putting in a Golen 4.6 in my 84' CJ-7 this winter or maybe finding someone local who can help build one for me. I live in Nederland, CO. What did you end up going with? I am considering the following:

Golen 4.6 Stroker
Banks, K&N or Scorpion Cool Air Intake
Doug Thorley Headers
Cat Back Pipes
Dui Performance Distributor & Coil Kit
Holley Truck Avenger 470 CFM Carb
Figure I will need a new wiring harness too

Not sure if I will need the following (might need to upgrade later depending on how it runs):
Accel 62mm throttle body
Accel 24lb Fuel injectors
Flowcooler Water Pump
180 Thermostat - high flow balanced
Radiator / Fan
