I have a stroker that was built by Hesco. The motor started to have a knock. I pulled it apart and found that the number 6 piston was melted. Not in the middle of the piston but on the outside of the piston. I believe a possible vacuum leak or injector. But either way I need a new set of pistons. I really don't want to drop $1000 for a set of Hesco piston and rings.

So my question is what pistons would you rec for this motor. The block is .30 over with a aluminum Hesco head.

Do you now the dish size on the pistons?

I would recommend a slight rehone on the cylinders and have the machine check the cylinders for wear and mic them for you so you know the exact bore measurement when you order new pistons.

Diamond racing makes the pistons for Hesco.

I don't know the dish size of the piston. Is there a way I could measure? Also one of the cylinders has a mark. You can just feel the mark. Should I worry or should I push the bore out and just aorder a new set of pistons and rings?

That looks pretty deep. Its probably not idea, but it also might not cause a problem.

As for measuring the dish, you can put a piece of plexi on top of the piston with some vaseline to seal it up then cc it using a burette. Like this

Or you could call Hesco and ask.

No, you shouldn't have any problem at all. Just make sure that the balance pads on the small ends of the 4.0L connecting rods have been ground flat so that the pistons don't bind when they rock in the cylinder bores.
