ok i have been looking in the searches and found you need a spacer for a long nose crank. so if i use a long crank 64mm do i just machine 10mm off or use a spacer, and if a spacer does this throw off the belt alignment because this will be crucial when i need the belt to drive the s/c

Most seem to run a spacer which if fitted between the balancer & bolt wouldn't affect alignment.
I believe machining off 10mm & redrilling/tapping is also a solution.

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong

You can have the crank machined, or use the spacer between the bolt's washer and balancer. Which ever is more convenient for you.

o i see duh, for some reason i was thinking the balancer had a capped end and could only go so far. i didnt realize you can push it through and put a spacer. that was a dumb question lol i should have looked at it closer

Yep I sawed the end of mine off!, I'm cheap, I wasn't going to buy a spacer or even make one out of an old dampener, this was free and easy, just chucked it up in the lathe and whipped it right off!

did you have to drill and tap or did the bolt still go in all the way

Haven't put it together yet, but I see no reason to "drill and tap it"?, maybe touch up the leading thread.

ok i just wasnt sure how deep the hole was

my caliper tells me its just shy of an inch, I cant seem to find a snout bolt right now?? I'm just going to screw the bolt in finger tight and figure the difference, if the bolt needs some trimming so be it.

Does anyone have dimensions or a CAD file for the spacer? If so, I can have many of these made on the lazer for pretty cheap.

I plan on cutting 10mm off the old 258 crank pully and use that for the spacer.
