Max Dish for Sealed Power677cp

Post by Diamond-x »

Any one know? Besides cc 'em I can't even find manufacturer stats for these. My blocks been punched out to confirm bore now it's time to deck the block, but I need to know this stat prior.

Thanks...

O.K.

Dino lists these as 17.55cc, manufacturer indicates a .108 depression at 3.125 diameter which works out to 17.38cc.

I need 22cc to allow my .075 quench and not elevate the CR beyond my 87 octane goal.

BTW, I calculate the stock quench at .075. and from what I've read efficiency is elevated with a lower quench so even with a 'slightly' elevated CR lower octane may not ping.

Please chime in on milling the pistons, thanks!

if you don't have your pistons already; look at the Silvolite 2229s/

oletshot hooked me up with a set willed to 26cc for an upcoming turbo build.

He's posting around here quite frequently.

The 677p/cp has a 14.0cc dish--this was told to me by the Sealed Power tech dept. some months ago and the other specs and other piston info is on the FAQ subforum. They have a d-shape dish like the 802/825, so you can't easily calculate the volume. I did see a set of the 677ps at my machinist's shop and they were very similar to my 825s.

Hi I am new to the forum and I thought i'd share my two cents about the 677cp piston. I have been planning a stroker build for some time and I want pistons that will have my compression ratio and quench dialed for 87 octane. While doing research about dish volume/depth and crown thickness, I could never find any concrete specs for these pistons. I decided to find out for myself and get the cc'ing stuff out and the depth micrometer to get some real numbers on a spare 677cp std bore I had laying around. Here's what I came up with. The piston dish depth measured .130"-.135" deep. The dish volume came out to 17cc's. I then took a drill and drilled 3 holes across the crown so I could measure the crown thickness for milling potential. The crown thickness came out to .320"-.325" thick. These are the most concrete numbers that I can come up with! I hope this helps.

Make that 3 very happy customers with Oletshot. He took my 14cc H802's and not only made them a little deeper, but opened the shape of the D to about the same size as the 677's. Increased them to 20cc's. Not to mention the professional appearance!

Indeed I measured the dish volume on my 677P's and it came to 17.5cc. My old stock pistons had a 13.1cc dish.
