Hail to the lords of the straight six

I have aquired just about all parts needed. building a long rod with kb945's.(to be milled accordingly shotting for around 9.7 static & 8.4 dcr) A 7120 head with 2.0 int & 1.55 ex with mild ex port work. the 93 cherokee will be an daily/ mud/crawler with an AX-15
squish will be between .041 & .043 . Really looking @ lunati's 2 cams with favors going to the 501 grind which closes @ .006/56* ABDC it will be put @ 2 to 4* advanced depending on valve clearance issues. Also talking to cliffords about thier EFI special which closes @.006/56* (114 lsa) they say it performs 80* of torque @ idle to 3500rpm & HP TO 4500RPM . which really sounds like fun. If anyone has any or knows of anyone with these cams some input is highly appreciated.
Also I'm conflicted on how far one can mill the spring seats to help get the recommended spring hieght?? I guess we would end up running spring locators after milling + shims to make-up the differance of extended valve lenths. To keep the geometry right.
Again looking for some experiance & guidance before getting caught on the wrong path. Thanks to all who reply

If you are shooting for 9.7 static you may want to go with the 944s. On my build I have the 944s, .040 over, .044" quench. I'm at 9.54 static. Off the top of my head the 945s will give you about 10.5:1. I don't think you will have any valve clearance issues ad there is plenty of room. What install height are you going for on the springs? Depending on how long the valve stems are you may have to shim under the rocker and get longer pushrods (depends on what the final configuration is with decking, milling, cam base circle is, etc) to maintain correct geometry.

The cliffords cam and spring pack suggest 130# @ 1.7 installed spring height. Lunati suggest 105# @ 1.8 spring hieght. So extended valve lengths are in the future. Cliffords says they spent 4 years developing thier efi grind with 114*lsa to run on the obd efi. Now I have read write ups on piggy backs and advancing CPS sensor to help with timing curves on OBD2 engines with statments that OBDI are more forgiving. The Lunati cam specs are 213/220 @ .050 advertised @ 256/262 valve lift .484/.507
I have missed placed what few specs I had on cliffords. What I was planning on was to split the diff. and shoot for 1.750 spring installed hieght with around 120# closed pressure. And get some fed back on the two cam grinds if possible.
As far as the 945 vs. 944 I was just thinking it would allow for more ability to dail it in but could also be over thinking the whole thing it's still a jeep to be run in all condintions and elevations.
