i have a nephew that is swapping a 4 cyl to a 4.0 auto in a wrangler i think it is a 89 what does he have to do to complete this doner jeep is complete and running thanks

I've never screwed with the 2 bangers?, but IIRC they don't share the same bellhousing?, you'll need to swap the trans with the engine.
You can get more power out of ANY engine!!!

he is using the 4.0 trans and transfer case in the swap

I'm currently doing the same or at least gathering all the information first. From what I understand, he'll have to move the engine mounts back about two inches. The transmission mounts can accommodate so they don't require movement. The engine, transmission and transfer case all end up being ~2" further back...this makes the front drive shaft ~2" too short, you can pick up a 4.0 front driveshaft from a junkyard readily through www.car-part.com

For the rear driveshaft I was intent on using a slip yoke eliminator which of course means I was already going to have to buy a rear driveshaft.
