Jeep Strokers

just put my first stroker in and when i put the old distributor in i put the guide pin in as described in the fsm, but it was a little off on the rotor from where i marked no. 1 cyl. would that be my problem? haven't had time to check everything yet but will tommorow.

I indexed the distributor like the FSM manual said, and even double checked it with http://www.angelfire.com/my/fan/dist_index.html and it all seems to be good. I had put in a new CKS but the old one was still good so i tried with both the old and new, and nothing. I seem to be getting fuel. I have pressure at the rail, not sure on how much but i had recently put in a new fuel pump and everything was good before the swap. the flexplate was reinstalled in the same direction and is bolt specific so it can only go on one way. When i got the motor back from the shop it was set on no.1 TDC and the cam and crank both had the timing marks in across from each other as they should be. I am using a comp cams high energy 252h pn# CL68-200-4.

I would verify that the piston is still at TDC. Pressing on a balancer, setting preload, etc can move the crank. And you also need to make sure it is on TDC of the compression stroke. Turn the engine over with a breaker bar with your finger in #1 spark plug hole. When you feel compression line the balance mark up with the TDC mark on the timing cover. Recheck your distributor alignment. If that is not 180* out then check the basics. Are the injectors firing, or getting a signal? Are you getting spark?

I'm getting spark, and i can hear the fuel injectors open and the plugs are getting gas. I've made sure that the distributor is index, and even tried to move it a gear over and back and 180 just for trials, and no change. would it be due to the cam i chose. The comp cam 68-200-4 seemed like a really close alternative to stock, but comp cams web site says "not for fuel injection" and I don't know why not.

well after double checking everything again and i was sure that the distributor was in the right spot, I noticed that it wasn't plugged in. whoops. Then it started right up. About a hundred miles and everything seems fine, but I'm getting a P1391 DTC which is intermittent loss of signal from the CKS or the CMS. I wonder if I'm still off a little on the distributor, maybe a tooth if that would cause it or if i should just replace both since they have over 210K miles on them.
