Hey guys. Im rebuilding my 89 4.0l. I got a extra block so i can work on it on my spare time. I just need the lower end set up. I got a new head, timing gears, oil pump, injectors... ect on the old block. So here is what im thinking of doing. I got a 4.2l crank, 4.2l rods, comp cams part #753901. I need some help on what pistons to put in it. I wanna go .30 over and run 89-91 octane gas. I really want something thats got a little more pep, i dont have the H.O motor so i want a little more hp. what do you guys think??

That's a Crane cam part no. that you quoted but it's still OK anyway. The most suitable piston for your combo would be the Speed Pro H825CP and it'll yield a CR of ~9.5:1.

It's the original "poor man's" recipe on my site and my real life dyno numbers were after I did an '01 XJ intake manifold swap. I had 54k miles on the engine at the time.

Yes, +0.020". My stroker is "square" with a 3.895" bore and stroke.
