Hey guys, just joined the JeepStrokers family! A little bit about my jeep history..... I'm born and raised Jeep Cherokee. Right now I have 3, all 2 doors as luck would have it. The latest addition is a beast..... or at least it will be. Just took the motor out this past weekend and will be giving it a full make over, trying to do things right. Its a chopped two door with a "heavily modified" stroker. I wont go into too much detail at the moment because I plan to do some serious racing with it in the future so I hope you can bear with me as I dont want to give all the secrets away
. Anyway its got a 93 block and head, JB flat top pistons, chevy valves, gonna be putting a nice Holley carb on it, 650 or bigger, should be making upwards of 450 hp when all is said and done.
I picked this crazy rig up for cheap as the previous owners had all had their fun with it and moved on to bigger and better things. The head was warped along with cylinder walls needing to be honed. The head work has already been finished and now I will be helping my trusted performance engine builder rebuild this motor (they were the ones who did the original modifications to the motor in the first place so they are familiar with the stroker).
I have never seen this motor in action, I've only heard the stories about it and it is locally called the "5.0". Honestly I doubt if its really bored out to 5.0 but in past years it has done quite well at the mud drags up at Vermonster.
Anyway, I just wanted to introduce my jeep to the family. Im new to this whole posting thing so CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is appreciated. I plan to post pictures of the build up and when the sloot is finally up and running.
And I did have a question as well. What year for the 4.0 is considered the best all round motor for a stroker candidate? I believe it is the 96 as it was internally strengthened and balanced but I wasn't sure. Any input would be appreciated
