Stroker build one H.P. per cube

I am trying to find a build that would give me one h.p. per cube. I would like to keep the fuel injection and the total displacement of the engine is not a factor either. I want to run on 87 octane and not have forced induction either. This is a build for a amc Car but I have a jeep 4.0 head and fuel system on it right now. It is a 258 shortblock. I am using it as a daily driver during the summer months and am looking for stoplight to stoplight power. I am a 1/4 mile dragracer at heart. I am open to building the 258 or the 4.0 with combo of parts it doesnt matter. I have been looking at all of the builds 4.2 - 4.6 - 4.7. I just want to hit the 1 h.p. to cube or better with whatever build I do. I have read on the 4.0 with 232 crank and really like this but not sure how the fuel injection would run with the higher compression? Any Ideas would be awsome

The easiest builds that you could do to reach your 1hp/ci goal are:

4.2L Wilder mini-stroker (255.4ci)

AMC 232 3.500" stroke crank
Jeep 4.0L 6.125" rods
Silvolite UEM-2229 +0.060" bore pistons
10.0:1 CR
CompCams 68-235-4 210/218 degree camshaft
Ported HO 1.91"/1.50" cylinder head
Mopar/Victor 0.043" head gasket
0.040" quench height
Ford 24lb/hr injectors with adjustable FPR or MAP adjuster for '87-'95 engines, Ford 24lb/hr injectors for '96-'04 engines, '99-'00 Chevy LS1 26.2lb/hr injectors for '05-'06 engines
270hp @ 5300rpm, 306lbft @ 4000rpm

4.7L medium-buck stroker (285.7ci)

Jeep 4.2L crank offset-ground to 3.915" stroke
Jeep 4.0L 6.125" rods
Keith-Black UEM-IC944-060 pistons
10.0:1 CR
CompCams 68-235-4 210/218 degree camshaft
CNC ported HO 1.91"/1.50" cylinder head
Mill block deck 0.018"
Mopar/Victor 0.043" head gasket

Flometrics F&B 68mm billet TB

Ok I am curious as to how the engine doesn't ping real bad with that high compression...is it cause of the quench? and on a different thought is there anything I can do with the current 258 with the 4.0 head setup I have since it is already a 4.2? Could I have the head decked to bump up the compression? or should I go to the amc forum for more info on the 258....just overwhelmed with all the combos possible.

The quench is a contributing factor but the main reason is the longer duration cam than stock.
Could I have the head decked to bump up the compression?
Yes you could 'cause a 258 with a 4.0 head will still only have a CR of 8.7:1. That said, decking the block would produce better results and a lower quench as well.

Thank you for the info I thought that might work just wasnt sure. I could bore it out a bit also if so inclined.
