The machine shop shaved my 0630 "about .008" (His words...) Anyway, Do I need to shim the rockers to keep it proper up top?

Current recipe:
Stock 1998 block, head and cam, 1986 258 crank 10/10 under, KB 944 pistons, Ether a .044 or .043 head-gasket, 24lbs hr. injectors, '99 intake +fuel rail.

And I am at 1000 feet above sea level.

most strokers need new pushrods to make up for changes made in the deck height to get proper quench
if you did not deck your block, you can use Crane rocker arm shims to make small adj. to get proper lifter preload

Cam base circle and lifter differences also may dictate a change for push rod length.

If he only shaved .008, you shouldn't need new pushrods.

Probably not but I suggest you check the lifter preload anyway to make sure. The rocker arm bolts should reach the specified 19lbft of torque 1/3 to one full turn past the "zero lash" point. That's a lifter preload of 0.020"-0.060".

In double checking the head, I noticed that the shop had ground the tip of the valves. I pulled one and it measured about .006 shorter than stock.

The big question is: Should I try to smooth out the rough grind on the tip? I am concerned that it will chew through the rocker arms.
