Finally made it to the track

Post by mountaineerjeff »

I dont really know if this is the right place for this, but I finally got a run in.

now some big things to consider first.
#1 never ran at the track before. (which I think makes a huge difference, its pretty different)
#2 OPEN rear diff on old all season 235s.
#3 In 2wd despite it being a heavier 4wd
#4 basically full leather interior
#5 drivetrain is STOCK. stock long block 4.0L, stock aw4 trans, stock 242 tcase in 2wd, stock OPEN 8.25 rear with 3.55s
#6 170k mile stock front and rear suspension.
#7 running VERY rich.

I believe she has a lot more to give. mainly traction oriented.

Left lane: car 4.0L

Are you sure you've posted the correct timeslip? A 13.64 @ 100.0 1/4 mile run is far too good to be true for a stockish automatic XJ. That's close to the 13.55 @ 105.3 that I ran in my modified 1995 Mustang GT automatic.

I´m pretty sure the numbers from the right lane car are more in line with what to expect from a stock cherokee? the 16.0 @ 92?

I would have loved to see that Dual TB intake in action!! Too bad a Hydroboost for the brakes could not have been fit in place of the booster to achieve the clearance. I was thinking the dual TB deal when I was putting mine together again a few weeks ago. With the high lift cam ported head etc, i have a bored TB but still think this intake could use some serious design improvements.

Adds up, 245-260hp to the wheels with the right gearing, good launch etc should run a 13.8 to a 14.4 at approx 98-103mph. aside from the box in the wind factor on the big end... even with a 2.10 60ft it should get there.

Im really not sure the numbers. hopefully getting close to 300.
the big limiting factor right now is traction.
it is running some N20, but its extremely rich right now.

so if i am reading this correct it went 13.6 on spray? if so what hp shot? i like the drag stars on the front ...i put my drag lites off my fox body on my xj one nite and did a little street racing...man that thing would take off like a crackhead with your vcr...i would leave off a 150hp shot and it would just dead hook ..
