Jeep Strokers

hi everyone im new here and starting on my stroker. starting with the upper end right now i got mopar performance springs, valves, retainers, ect. the head is getting ported now, my questions is im going to run the comp cam 68-231-4 is there any problem running stock length components with this cam (will the pistons hit the valves)? and people are using the "not for fuel injected" for fuel injected right?

You can run the stock pushrods and don't believe the "not for fuel injection" crap. The pistons won't hit the valves unless you either get the cam timing wrong when installing the timing set, or go wild shaving material from the head/block surfaces.
What are the planned specs for your stroker? Something similar to my 4.6L low buck recipe?

I would skip anything made by Accell.

The problem with a pushrod being the wrong length is not about the pistons hitting the valves, but about too much or too little preload.

so got bad experience with accel should i just go with msd that was my other choice

Yes, I would go with MSD over Accel. I have heard nothing but failures from Accel.

We run several vehicles with Accell super coils (including my TJ) and LOVE them!, I've heard nothing but complaints from MSD in the last couple of years?

well that was the whole reason i picked accel in the first place my buddies mds had issues within the first year, that was on a mustang though i guess ill worry about later. the whole reason im just doing the top end is ive got a offer on a house otherwise id be looking at a supercharger 4.6 by now

Unfortunately MSD (My Spark Died) outsourced much of their manufacturing outside the US so they've also had many ignition components fail either right out of the box or soon after. At the end of the day, you can't beat stock OEM ignition components that have proven to be reliable in the Jeep.

I had an Accel die on me w/in a years time and then when I blew my single roller timing chain, I tried a MSD and it quit on me half-way around the block with the new Rollmaster installed(effin lame). I have a BFD in there now, but stock is the way to go.

well its staying stock for now, im just waiting for my intake valves to come in and then the head is on its way to the machine shop.

another thing i was curious about is since im switching over to a older cam and bolt style, how nessesary is that little nipple on the back of the timing cover? Im not sure if my 99 has one, im guessing its flat because of the retainer plate. so should i grab a older timing cover since im getting a new head at the junk yard tomorrow?(the head i grabbed i noticed a hairline crack in chamber 1 and 3 after i cleaned it and i was pissed)

I would prefer the nipple. My stock 2000 Cover had one.

really so my 99 should have it to i would think, i havent pulled it yet since im still waiting for my parts.
