Another Water Pump Question

Post by Rescue Diver »

I saw this same question asked in another thread, but the answers were a little criptic.

I'm building a stroker for my 79 CJ-7 using a 4.0 block with my 258 crank and rods. I'm sticking with the V-Belts because I like the idea that I have two belts driving my water pump, in case one belt fails.

My question is, will a 258 water pump work in a 4.0 block using all the original 258 belt and cooling hardware? I already know that the pump will physically bolt to the block. What confused me is that someone in the other thread was talking about reverse flow or something like that?

i think the main difference is just the direction that it spins. so with that thought, if you used the vbelts with a 258 pump, you should be ok.
