ported head poll??/

Post by gremlinsteve »

im in a business where we port heads for some of the fastest of the fast. speed numbers aside, we know what it means to move air. to make torque where it is needed and to do it within certain guide lines that keep the vehicle and its owner happy.

i have parts on the fastest 5.7 hemi based car in th world right now. in fact, we have the top 10 of the 12 fastest.

while not a 4.0 jeep engine, the principle is the same.

who would be interested in a head ported by proffesionals who have been in the business for 30 years?

i would expect 1000 in expense for the work. thats a ready to run head btw. wont need anything. includes chamber work and a new valve job. 5 angle hand blended.

That is not a bad price. Hesco's Al head is around $2000 with no porting. Patriot performance has a CNC'd cast head, but I believe it is only on the chamber for $800.

Besides the port, do you polish it as well, the exhaust runners and the chambers that is? Would one be able to get the flow numbers as well?

You mentioned in another post that your shop has a Hauss 5-Axis milling machine, Would your cylinder heads be ported on this machine or are they hand done? I'm doing my own head, but i'm still curious.

This 5 axis is Greek to me. What is it designed to do, or what is it capable of doing?

That seems a little pricey, dont most port and polish jobs run somewhere around $400?
Now I can be like all those other awesome people with more than one Jeep in their sig, but now I have to say one of them is sold:(
97 XJ 4.6
90 MJ 4.0 - sold

I want to have as many Jeeps as children. DD, offroader, drag MJ and another one. 4=4

No way you will get a P&P for that much.

You can get some nice work done for 5 hours of work (labor rate where I work is $80/hr) and If the person porting knows what they are doing they could make some significant gains.
