IAT has some control over efan?

So, something interesting I have noticed. I relocated the IAT from the air filter back to the original location on the manifold. Now, what I noticed is that the electric fan will come on prior to the temp gauge hitting 210*. Mostly under low speeds when air becomes stagnant. Now, you may say that the temp sender for the PCM on the t-stat housing is going bad, but on the 2000 it feeds the gauge as well, so I am seeing what the PCM sees. Is there something else causing the fan to come on prematurely, or is this some feature?

How early does it come on and when does it cut off?

I want to say it can come on around 180 or 185 on the temp gauge. For example I was sitting in traffic and the XJ hadn't gotten up to 210 (the efan didn't even come on previous until after that) and the fan came on. Don't recall when it shut off, but the engine temp didn't change. And the AC wasn't on.

Was it on Defrost.......the ac compressor runs on this mode also.
