Run a 99 or 2000 cam in a RENIX?

I have searched and read many threads about running the pre-1999 OEM or aftermarket cams in the newer engines. I have been unable to find a thread that discusses running the new cam in an older engine.

I really like the low RPM performance of the new cam. I like the wider lobe separation and it is nice to see the built-in 8* retard gone as well. Is anybody running the old cam advanced a few degrees with success?

Is there any way to run the new cam in the older blocks? Is there enough space to put the cam thrust plate on the front of the block and drill the necessary holes? Does anybody have other ideas?

There is no thread about it because no one does it. There is no advantage to running the later cam over anything else.

You could use the '96-'98 stock cam. That has the same profile as the '99+ and it'll be bolt in with your existing recessed bolt/spring/pin provided you use either a '94-'98 stock timing set or a Cloyes dual roller.
