Jeep Strokers

1.) Which way does the slot on the pilot bearing go? I would assume that it would be towards the block to facilitate easy removal.
But, I hate to ASSume anything.
2.) Also do I want it flush with the face of the crankshaft, or bottomed into the hole?

I would be hard pressed to believe that edge (up) is anything but the side that points away from the crankshaft when installed. You do not want this bearing to walk in place. Having tight cylinder and back wall contact is important for the life of the bearings.
