What are the chances I'm lean?

Hello!

I've got about 500 miles on my 4.6 stroker and things seem to have stabilized. I'm running a Comp Cams 242 with a pretty high SCR and DCR because I didn't take much off of my block but the good news is that I don't seem to have any detonation that I can hear anyway.... I don't have a A/F ratio guage inatalled to know where I'm at rich/ lean wise but I have installed a adjustable MAP sensor and set the voltage up to 5.5 and I'm running 24 lb injectors but other than that I've been watching the plugs and they seem to look about right. Just wondering what the chances are that I'm running this thing seriously lean? Wondering what some other setups look like when there setup right.

Thanks
Dean

With 24lb injectors (you don't state what year) and the MAP voltage increased I don't think you are running lean. W/o a wideband the only thing you can do is do a WOT run and shut it down the moment you let off the accelerator. Then pull over and check the plugs, but you also have to know how to read plugs. You could also do a WOT run and look for black smoke out the tail pipe. Black smoke=rich. You can also run lean and not have pinging.

It's pretty unlikely that your engine will be running lean. If anything, I think it's more likely to be running slightly rich. You'll definitely need an AFR gauge to know where you are (wideband would be better).
