getting started questions

I'm sure these questions are floating around here somewhere but I just can't seem to track them down. I have a 97 Cherokee with a 4.0 in it and I want to build a stroker for it. I do not know very much about this but my brother in law is a machinist and builds race engines every day so he will do all the work. I am just supposed to supply the money and the parts :) So My question is what is the best way? I was under the impression that the best way is to get a 4.2 block with a 4.0 crank and head on it. but i seem to be seeing a lot of people using a 4.0 block with a 4.2 crank. I want to get around 250-300 horse and use what I have to do it. I can get a 4.2 block for pretty cheap but I don't know if that is the way to go. Please help!!!!

If you put a 4.0 crank in a 258 block you'll just have a 232, that would be a DESTROKER!
If you cant seem to track down the answers on here you haven't done much reading at all?

try to stick to the projects, and stroker discussion/performance sections, and stay out of swapology to minimize confusion
