Distributor off one tooth?

I recently had a 4.6L stroker built and the guy who put the distributor back on was not sure about the indexing. The engine runs but it seems very low on power for an over 10:1 static compression ratio. If the distributor is off one tooth will the engine even run? I need to get out there and check the timing with a light I suppose.

It will run but not well at all. Just try re-indexing it.. its not that hard and doesnt take to long.

Now that I think about it, when I floored it to pass once I got several engine misses. It had the feel of an electrical problem. Does that sound like a possible disty indexing problem?

I just checked the timing and it looks to me like it is 6 marks above 0. I believe that is 12 degrees BTDC. This is at idle speed. I can't find a timing spec for a 91 4.0 anywhere. But I am thinking this may be too advanced.

I had someone with a scanner check that the cam position sensor was in sync with the Crank position sensor and they are so I don't have a disty indexing problem.

If this is still alive.
FYI
I had to cut one fork of the distributor tab off to rotate it about a degree.
Now runs like a bat out of hell.
