so i picked up a engine stand today and went to mount the block on the stand and noticed i'm missing the passenger side insert that holds the tranny up and has the threads for the bolt. anybody know what it's called and where i can get 1? i need to assemble the block so i can measure the deck height

Are you talking about the... ummm.. the technical word escapes me now for some reason... but its the cylindrical thing that is on the block 'wing' that aligns the transmission and engine? It might be a dealer only item. But if you just need to put it on the engine stand for now you don't need that.

The "hollow alignment dowel" that aligns the bell housing to the block?, it has no threads in it, the threads are in the block, is it stuck in the bellhousing?

Maybe try a tranny shop. I would think they should have some laying around that might fit. Or at least they could steer you in the right direction to find some.
