Injectors don't fit

I'm in the final stage of putting my 4.6 stroker together. I am using the ford 24 pound-light blue injectors. The end that goes into the manifold has a yellow plastic cap on the end, and it appears to be part of the injector. There is a perfect hole in it for the spray to come out and the cap does not come off with moderate pressure. This does not appear to fit into the little hole inside the manifold. I have taken the o-ring off and it still does not seat all the way. Anyone ever have this issue? The Jeep is a 92 with a 96 block and intake manifold but am using a pre 96 rail . The actual part number on the injector is F1TE-D5A. Everything else seems to match up..Thanks

Wellllll...if you press REALLY hard and twist and jiggle , it goes pop and seats itself. I would still like to hear from anyone else who had issues with these injectors..thanks

That yellow cap on the tip of the injector is there to prevent dirt getting into the spray nozzles after packaging, so you're supposed to remove that cap (not the o-ring!!) when installing the injector. The same goes for the black cap at the other end.

If that pintle cap isn't suppose to be there the you need to contact FORD and tell them they screwed up and put millions of injectors into service with that cap on there! and how is it suppose to keep dirt out of the pintle with the hole in it?

Rub some motor oil on the o-rings before seating them, so you don't damage them while pressing so hard. Also, they'll slide in a lot easier and seat better.

i wouldnt use motor oil, it will make the o-ring swell. i found that if you take some super soapy water and wet the the o-ring they slide right in (with a little wiggling) btw im using the same injector in my 4.5 in my 92 and they work awsome.

Thanks, the issue wasn't the o-rings but the yellow end. It was an extremely tight fit (so I thought). I'm trying tp contact the company who sold them to verify the proper configuration of the yellow end tip

Vaseline is preferable for that purpose.

You're absolutely correct sir. That pintle cap IS supposed to be there. I think my brain went into blonde mode when I made my last post.

Thanks for the confirmation that the yellow tips should be left on. I was kind of worried when I really had to press to get them in.
