Well I just recently built and installed my 4.6 in to my jeep and it runs okk... but the power seems to surge and it will pop back through the intake or backfire out the exhaust... When the power goes to the good side of the scale it feels greatt but shortly after it will nosedive... im not sure what it could be any help would be greatly appreciated:]
Thanks guys,
Ben

You're gonna have to make sure the cam position sensor is properly sync'd--intake backfires are a symptom of misaligned one. Look at bratcop's project build to find the article.pdf file that explains the toothpick method.

Check the TPS. The voltage should rise smoothly from 0.7-0.8v (throttle closed) to about 4.2-4.3v (wide open) with the ignition on, engine off as you slowly open the throttle blade. If you see any voltage dips or spikes, replace the TPS.

Did you degree the cam? If the cam timing is off, as the computer adjusts the ignition timing it could cause this issue. The engine will not run with the cam/crank sensor relationship out enough for it to fire the plugs with a valve open...The computer will shut the engine off after just a couple of rotations and not restart.
