It's Getting longer and longer.
I'm going to try and put it in in one piece, I don't quite know how that's going to work out.
Image
Close up of the 231 with the SYE, had to change the input shaft to match the AX-15.
Notice that the 231 is rotated about 10 degrees clockwise from the orientation when installed with the Ba10/5.
I might have to redrill the transmission, it looks like I have room to rotate and redrill if I have to.
I don't know if the Xfer case will bump up into anything in its present state.
Image
Another problem... The anodized piece is the Xfer case shifter bracket (for an NV3550) .
I think I am going to to fabricate my own shifter mechanism. It goes through a reversing process in the linkage.
So mine will be back to front. I'm thinking about something totally redneck style like a lg box wrench as the shifter handle.

i PUT MINE INTO MY TRUCK (NO FRONT FENDER GROUP) sorry-caps
I put mine in with 4.6/727/208 and it went in just fine.
I may have had a strap/chain going back to something near the back to control tilt.

Rear of AX 15. You can see that I have room to rotate the holes 10 deg.
I am going to do the layout on a template and transfer then drill pilot holes only ( I think, I haven't really decided yet) I really don't want to booger up a brand new AX15.

Pilot holes drilled. Should I go all the way and drill them out proper? Sure would be easier with it all out.

New to me tool. Snap on MT2500. Will help with diagnostics if I ever get it in and running!

Just make sure that the holes are centered off the output shaft. If the transfer case is out I would mount it and see how the holes line up.

The holes all fall within the same circle ( that's why I made the template, to confirm) . They are just not equally spaced.
I have since decided to bite the bullet and drill them out. I now have to clean everything up and put a small chamfer on the holes. then I will dry fit the Xfer case
as you suggested. It's just way easier to do this now.
I'm getting exited! This has been a long time coming. One thing about doing something this slowly is it gives me a chance to really think things out.
Which in my case where I really don't have a clue what I'm doing, is a good thing.

Because I'm trying to match the original orientation of the 231 when it was mated to the BA10/5 Peugeot.
