Anyone ever remove the oil filter adapter that bolts to the block? I know it's a torx, T55 or T60 IIRC, but it's in an XJ and boy is it tight getting the torx bit and ratchet in there. And once it's on we couldn't break it loose.
Need to replace the o-ring behind it.
Any suggestions?

I had to pull the mtr mt on that side and raise/lower the engine to get enough room.

I have replaced it on a ZJ and XJ. Both are tight. I don't recall which but I had to grind flats on to the socket so I could get a crescent on it. On the other I was able to use a small breaker bar as a ratchet would not fit.

I'm doing mine this weekend, using the information I found here:
http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Eng ... -Rings.htm
I bought a T60 torx, the kind that's already in a socket, and drove the torx out of the socket with a hammer and a punch. Just took one good whack. Then you can use a 10mm open end or box wrench to turn it. Should be short enough to fit in there, but like I said, I haven't done it yet.
