Hey Jeepers,
OK, I read up on this a bit, but here's my situation. I am finishing my rebuild after a cam loss. My dizzy only has about 15K on it. Didn't have any issues with it. Can I reuse it without replacing the gear? The new gear is EXPENSIVE and i can only find one out of state from a dealer.

The gears mate to each other and 'break-in' or 'wear-in' to each other. Personally I would replace the gear and call it cheap insurance especially if you show any wear or shiny spots on the old gear.

You can get them fron O'riellys auto parts, but it might not be on the shelf. Got my last 3 there , can't remember the price off hand, but it wasn't too bad.
