Jeep Strokers

I just picked up a 1984 CJ7 with a 4.2/t-5/d300 setup. I'm looking for EFI. I have done a few 5.7 swaps in yj's and thought about running that route here. But i think i want to try something different.... with that being said i have a '84 4.2 complete (needs rebuild). I also have a '91 4.0 from an xj with auto trans... i can get my hands on a '87 4.0 drive train as well.

With these parts would I have a good starting point for a stroker? I'm not looking for huge horse power. Just something reliable and a litte bit more oomh then a stock 4.0. I'm looking to keep it around 1,000-1,500 for the drivetrain.

I guess i'm asking what block/heads should i be using and then i can go from there.

Well, the '91 head is best of the bunch. As for the 4.0 blocks, use the one in the best shape. Only real difference is the '91 will have bosses to mount the HO coil. If you plan to use the obd1 then its a little easier,but you can mount the coil elsewhere with longer wires.
