Jeep Strokers

For years I've had oil pressure gauge issues on the dash. It has dropped to zero at random times (and the "Check Gauge's" light illuminating), stopped and driving, since about 2005. When I stroked it I bought a new oil pressure gauge as a precaution. I got a new oil pump but I used the old the old pickup tube. I cleaned the pickup tube a little; I didn't used a pipe cleaner but I sprayed it with oven cleaner. Now that I've got 500 miles on my stroker (hit it today, doing the oil change tomorrow) I'm worried because I'm still getting random drops to zero. Part of the reason I stroked it was because my TJ was sounding like a diesel. I went to O'Reily's to get a T-fitting at the oil pressure adapter when I was rebuilding it but they advised me not to. How can I add a mechanical oil pressure gauge to check it? I hope it's the computer screwing up and I want to verify that.

My '95 xj was dropping- per the gauge even with a new sensor. I found the wire about an inch from the connector had a soft spot. A little cut/ solder work and its nice n steady

Put a t-fitting in or replace the stock sender with the mech gauge temporarily? I tend not to listen to anything that part store employees say.

I agree, put that "T" fitting in there and run an aftermarket mechanical gauge, I've had engines with the original light, gauge and an aftermarket gauge on them.

I ignore most of what they say other than the price and warranty.
I got out of the Army as a vehicle mechanic (63W) yet was not qualified to work the parts counter at a chain store.
If your junk came with a T fitting and was in the computer it'd be OK, I bet.
There are the rare exceptions for parts monkeys that do have a clue.

Put a T in and away you go. Can't think of any reason why it would cause any trouble at all.

The Advance Auto near me has a few good ones, along with a few idiots. Autizmzone here is chock full of stupid. Like Walmart, I get annoyed just by walking in there.
