98 Wrangler block
88 4.2 crank
KB- IC944 pistons- 30 over
4.0 rods
Mopar P4529228AB cam & lifters
deck block .008 deck clearance
.051 quench
stock valve springs & rockers
shorter push rods
9.55 static compression
8.51 dynamic
is the dynamic to high ?
would I need 24 lb injectors ?
I am looking for a good drivable engine with a little more power than stock
Thanks

That DCR might be just high enough to cause some pinging problems at low rpm 'cause you're using a very mild cam with a fairly high SCR. You could deck 0.010" less from the block to leave the deck clearance at 0.018" and the SCR 0.2:1 lower to reduce cylinder pressures.

I was planning on decking the block to .008 and using a .043 head gasket to get the .051 quench
if I decked the block the same and use a .051 head gasket the quench would be .059
giving me 9.33 static and 8.32 dynamic
would that be enough to stop the pinging ?
if I went that route , I'd have options later (.043 head gasket & bigger cam )
after reading silverxj's build, Im very nervous about larger cams

Its not the cam itself that is causing the problem. There is something else amiss. Cam bearing problems with these engines are rare. The only other documented cases I have heard of are due to oiling issues.
