Stroker Died Today

Not because of engine failure, but because some moron felt he had the right of way even though he was turning left and pulled out in front of me. I had no time to react and hit him at about 55 miles/hr. I guess I should be glad I walked away. Looking for a new Jeep to build a new stroker for.

R.I.P.

:( That sucks. Sorry to hear it. Is the motor salvagable at least?

I haven't been over to look at it yet. There was a lot of oil on the road, so I don't know. The engine only had about 18,000 miles on it. I thought maybe I could at least get the roller rockers, header, throttle body, injectors...stuff I could maybe use on my next stroker.

Shit. That really sux. At least you are ok.

From the pics it looks the engine might not be as bad as you think it is. Hopefully it shut down on impact.. maybe the oil filter just got ripped off. Even if the block is damaged there is a good chance all the internals are fine.

Really make some think of getting a better insurance policy for my XJ when/if it runs.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. The insurance company is offering $13,150.00. I thought that was a fair price. As soon as I get the check I'll be Jeep shopping.

Not a bad price. Was that taking into account the new engine? Are you going to buy it back and get the parts you can use?

I told the adjuster about the engine, but I don't know if he adjusted the price. I asked if I could take parts off the engine. He said I could, but I would get less for the Jeep. So I am just going to take the money. It is so smashed in the front end, I don't know what is good.

I have the original engine from the Jeep on a stand in the basement. It has 120,000 miles on it. So that will be the start of the new stroker. I buy parts hear and there when I can find good deals. I have 3, 12 wt cranks, a set of Mopar Performance springs, 2 sets of ARP rod bolts, a brand new set of LS1 valves (if I decide to use them), main and rod bearings.

If they're not keeping to close an eye on it,I'd go to"clean my stuff out" and swap the rollers for stock rockers. :hrhr:

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. If you pay the shipping, I'll give you the rods from my 4.2 donor block...

I hate used car shopping. I can't find a Jeep I like. I drove a Rubicon yesterday. WOW, I forgot what driving a stock 4.0L is like. After owning a stroker, it was like driving a 4 cylinder. Once you go stroker you will never go back!
