Low Beam Headlights/Dimmer Switch

Post by blk85cj7 »

I have lost my low beams and looking for a little help. My high beams haven't worked since I bought the Jeep. I had a spare hour or two and thought I would give it a shot. 85 CJ7 with the dimmer switch on the floor. It turned out that the wires were loose connecting to the switch. Took them off, cleaned it all up and reinstalled. Everything was working great. From there I took it for a spin and tested it out by turning them on and off. I did it about 5 times then all the sudden my low beams wouldn't come on. Drove back to the house and everything looks ok? Wiring instill intact and no blown fuses. I'm stuck. I install the two on the bottom incorrectly (reversed) and blew the bulb? Driving lights and high beams work fine.

Did you try bypassing the switch to see if they would come on? Bad switch maybe?

Those switches are notorious for going bad. Replace the dimmer switch on the floor. The problem will go away...till the next time the foot switch breaks.
