Exhaust

Post by Matt99 »

I was curious what kind of exhaust every one was running? I already have a header i just need header back. I dont fill like spending a whole lot but i do want a decent exhaust with a good sound. Also did you guys keep the cats and O2 sensors?

Thanks in advance!

Well right now im running the stock exhaust on my 91 wrangler 4.0 with high flow cat and a cheap cherrybomb turbo muffler. It's quiet when cruizing around but if you get on it you can hear it. After wheeling season this year I'll tear into my jeep to put in the new stroker I plan on welding a 2.5in collector on my APN header and run 2.5 all the way through with a catco cat and flowmaster. Since I live in California I'm defiantly going to keep the cat and O2. Plus I do like to wheel my jeep and not smell all that exhaust. You don't have to have an 02 senser but it will run like crap and give you 'Check engine' light. My dads 68 ford pickup with a BB 460 has no cat and let me tell you...that thing is the epitome of 'gross polluter' Everyone behind him on the trail is like "god dam that thing smells" :x I don't think its worth getting rid of a cat unless is a race car. I believe thats why cat companies make "high flow" cats so you CAN have both, high flow and a working cat.

I'm running an APN header to a 2.5" exhaust that I fabricated out of the U bends you can get from Summit and similar places. The cat is a Catco high flow unit and the muffler is a Dynomax. This is on a '93 so the O2 sensor is on the down pipe/crossover. I did add an extra O2 bung for a wideband.

Borla to a "hi flow" Cat to a Flowmaster, mandrel bent all the way back... more than one person has asked me if I swaped a V8 in just from the idle sound.

I'm runnig one of those Chinese SS headers-- EXACT same thing as the Banks. Fixed it with a 2.5" SS exhaust-- hi-flow cat and Dynomax glasspack. It sounds MEAN!

Had to keep the o2 for the system to work
