Tool Recommendation

Searched and didn't come up with what I was looking for.

I'd like to buy some good precision engine building tools -> namely micrometers and a dial indicator. What are some good brands? Size recommendations for the micrometer - I'm thinking a 0-1" and a 3-4" should do it for building a 4.0? Any other tool recommendations? Any absolute must-haves for building a stroker? I have the basics, compressor, torque wrenches, and other odds and ends but no precision stuff.

Micrometer: Starrett is a good brand, Mitutoyo, Brown & Sharpe. You will pay for a good one. You could get a cheap one off ebay, but they have problems.

It all depends on what you are planning to do with the tools. You may be able to just get by with a good caliper.

A dial indicator and base is a must have. Measuring cams lift, valve lift, TDC, indexing the cam, etc. You will also want a magnetic base (I suggest a good hydraulic unit), and a degree wheel(the larger the better). You could use a TDC bridge, but a Dial indicator and base works well too.
